Most sufferers of acid reflux or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) have heard about the "purple pill". First there was Prilosec, and when the patent was coming close to an end, then along came the second-generation purple pill, Nexium. Created by AstraZeneca, this drug is classified as a proton pump inhibitor, which basically means it helps reduce the amount of gastric acid produced in the stomach. Approved by the FDA in 2001, this medication is given by prescription. Nexium is available in 20 mg and 40 mg doses and the generic is esomeprazole. |

Omeprazole side effects can happen to just about anybody who uses Omeprazole capsules. Omeprazole is a medicine that is often used to address problems with peptic ulcer disease and dyspepsia. Unfortunately, just like any other drug, Omeprazole pills do have its side effects which may occur differently to each person – and at different levels. It can be bought over the counter without any required prescription from the doctor, but it is heavily recommended that consultation with a doctor before any purchasing and drinking the medication is done. |
